Horological New Year's resolutions

For me I'm wanting to a formex essence white dial:

Hopefully this will be supported by a few more commissions on custom builds/mods.

Get around to doing my janky homemade dial project.

And finally replace the capacitor and fix the bracelet on my citizen calibre 2100 aka Ron Swanson watch.

GS baby!  Not allowing any of my usual small 'doesn't really count' watch purchases until I tick that box.  I think.  Or maybe I'll get a G-shock.  Or some other different watch I develop an instant love affair with.  Damn, loosey goosey goals here.

Also plan to try and complete a couple of hobby builds that are horrific looking, but I will plow through and create something disturbing to look at.

Less watches, more accessories, straps, jewelry, and display options.

To hopefully get some of the watches on my waiting list also try and branch out to different manufacturers

Stop buying watches and appreciate what I have / slim down the collection a bit..

 Also a rolex on a jubilee bracelet. hah.

My watch goal for 2023 is to be able to meet my watch goal for 2022. At the start of 2022, I was determined to not add to my collection. Other than the 11 new watches I bought, I was able to stick to that😉.  I'm hoping to stick to that same goal in 2023, but this time with 11 less moments of weakness. 

To buy another Rolex if my AD comes through. 😁

In 2023 I will try to spend less than I did and 2022 and with the savings I will attempt to move back indoors.

I'm not making any more big purchases until I get a higher paying job, but if I manage to snag one I think a Monta is first on my list! 

This one I'm starting with a brass blank and modify it.  It's not going to be a pretty watch but that'll be part of its charm. 

I've tried doing a paper dial though a laser printer isn't the best for that:

And I've had a few dials custom made. 

This one I had the number ring laser cut and I added the red washi paper to it.

I'd like to get my own laser but I guess the ones that are powerful enough start at like $2,500-3,000 and I'm not sure how much I would use it. 

I'd like to maybe get a few straps. Otherwise, I just want to enjoy the collection I have. :)

My goal is to misalign the aligned chapter rings of my Seikos to make them appear more authentic.

I'm saving that decision for game time. My heart tells me to get the GMT with clicky bezel, but I'm not sure how I feel about the crown guards. I also like the OP style one since it doesn't have crown guards, but that style of watch currently outnumbers clicky bezel watches in my collection in a 3:1 ratio. Probably going to follow the advice of buying used, so I'll just have to see what's out there when it's time! 

The goddess of discord is not big on 'plans', however, the next year will likely involve spending 11 months thinking up suitable challenges for the 2023 scav hunt, considering buying that 46mm Enoksen so I can trigger people by wearing it over the top of sleeves and I may start a campaign of convincing @WatchYourIntruder that his vintage pie-pan is rubbish and he may as well give it to me. 🤔

Obviously acquiring another watch to my collection would be one of my goal. But ultimately I would like to complete my future business plan (what I had always been dreaming of, but never actually start working on...) and eventually become a business owner.

Add a GMT, add a chronograph, and enjoy my complete collection thoroughly. I don’t expect I’ll buy more than a couple more watches in my lifetime at that point. Probably get more than I need as gifts!

I‘ll try not to buy any more watches next year. I went crazy this year and my current collection is pretty cool I think so I‘ll just try and stay abstinent for a year… See how that goes ;)

One exception is if they call me for my pepsi but that won‘t happen so I think I‘m good 

I would say get my hands on my grail - Omega Speedmaster Professional - But I reckon that is still a few years off so lets say picking up a nice Microbrand piece that sells out, maybe a Studio Underd0g. Not to flip either, I just like owning something that is sold out and people cant buy, just like my Jordans.

A Grand Seiko movement trifecta. I have the SBGA221 Snowflake with the 9R65 spring drive and the SBGN003 with the 9F86 quartz GMT.  So would like to add a mechanical/ automatic movement for a three watch Grand Seiko collection. 

Do it!  I visited Monta headquarters in St Loius last summer.  Met Justin, the company president, talked watches with him for an hour. Viewed their entire range. Not a bad choice in the lot, but left with a silver dial Triumph on my wrist.  Hands down the most comfortable bracelet (and adjustable clasp) you can buy at the price point…and several points higher!  

Abstinent, never heard if that brand.  is it Swiss? 😜
